How the oil & gas wells in Romania were named.

Almost 55 000 oil & gas wells were dug in Romania. A name was required for each one of the spud well. Usually the name of a well includes a number, a name after owner and a location. In the early years many of that wells were named after the owner ( private investor or company ), land owner, location, objective, layer, driller and so on. After WW ׀׀ the names of the wells include abbreviations after the national department responsible with oil & gas exploitation. Almost 45 000 of these wells are abandoned or propose to be abandoned. Nowadays the number of wells in production is approximately 6 000. The others are in injection, suspended, waiting for intervention/workover and so on. Many of older wells were reactivated, withdrown to an upper layer or used for sidetracks.
