1935 EPS fire - ''Petrolul Romanesc'' wells

In the afternoon of 23rd January 1935, on the Pascov Valley a powerfull fire broke out at oil well No. 27 PR Moreni Sud. The wooden derrick caught fire and one piece o wood in flames was carried by the wind 145 meteres away to N-E and ignited an open pit full with oil. From the open pit the fire spread to well no. 29 PR Moreni Sud and at an oil tank located in the Tank Farm Creditul Minier. The tank, full with 2 000 tons of oil, was hardly extinguished. 1927 Schela Mare fire - 5 wells destroyed

 On the 7th of June 1927, just after midnight, at 1.30 a.m., a powerful fire broke out in Schela Mare, Moreni. 17 people were carbonized and 5 wells were destroyed. The atmosphere was saturated with gases from well No. 40 of the ''Steaua Romana Company''. The well had been erupting for two days, with a production of 100 vagons of oil per day ( 1000 tons of oil per day ). A spark caused by a worker repairing a pump led to gas ignition and fire spreading. The wells destroyed by the fire were owned by the ''Steaua Romana'', ''Petrolul Romanesc'' and ''Creditul Minier'' companies:

Un nou violent incendiu la sonda din Moreni Sunt morţi şi mulţi răniţi 

Bucureşti 7. — Astănoapte la ora unu şi jumătate un violent incendiu a izbucnit la sonda societăţii „Steaua Română“ din Moreni, aflată in erupţie de 2 zile şi producând 100 vagoane ţiţeiu zilnic. Focul s’a întins şi asupra altor sonde aparţinând aceieiaş societăţi şi Creditului Minier. Şaptesprezece lucrători au fost carbonizaţi. Focul continuă cu furie. Pagubele sunt foartc mari. Ancheta a stabilit, că focul se datoreşte negligenţii unor lucrători, cari au reparat o pompă, lovind cu ciocanul s’au produs scântei cari au aprins gazele. 

Bucureşti 8. — Incendiul dela Moreni a fost stins. Focul a distrus complect 6 sonde. Numărul răniţilor pare a fi mai mare, fiindcă eri au lipsi dela apel 40 lucrători. 15 răniţi au fost transportaţi la spitalul din Ploeşti. Pagubele sunt imense, sondele aflandu-se in plina eruptie.
