The well No. 1 AR Moreni Sud was the first oil well spud at Moreni. It was installed in February 1904 by Mr. Jean Ulise Negropontes, on a 40 hectares concession from the Romanian State. It was drilled at a depth of 237m. In 1904 the oil production of this well reached 8 407 927 Kg. It was originally owned by Jean Ulise Negropontes. After him this oil well was owned by ''Societatea Campina-Moreni''. This company was founded by Anton Raky in 1904. The company Campina-Moreni was absorbed 2 years later by the by ''Regatul Roman'' ( run by manager Anton Raky ) which turned into ''Astra Romana ( established by Royal Dutch Shell by merging Soc. "Astra" and ''Regatul Roman'' ). The well produced in eruption, from September 1904 until April 1907, about 70 000 tons of oil. In April 1907 oil production was about 60-70 tons of oil per day.

No. 1 AR Moreni Sud.
A number of 10 wells have been dug over time within a radius of 45 meters from well No. 1 AR Moreni Sud. Oil well No. 1383 MP Moreni Sud dug in 1987 at 1737 meters to the Meotian layer is still in production. The rest of them, dug at differents Dacian layers, were abandoned.
