— Un mare incendiu s‘a declarat azi la ora 5 şi un sfert la schela Bucşani, la
sonda No. 16 a soc. Astra-Română. Sonda a fost complect distrusă de foc. Iată
cum s‘au intjmpiat faptele:
Pe la ora 5
şi un sfert, sudorul Bade Ion a fost pus cu un aparat de sudat să desgheţe o
conductă de apă, în imediata apropiere a sondei No. 16 a soc. Astra Română.
Cum
pământul de sub conductă era îmbibat cu parafină, cu toată zăpada ce se afla
deasupra, parafina a luat foc dela aparatul de sudat.
Incercările sudorului de a stinge focul au fost fără rezultat, deoarece alimentat de un vânt puternic, focul s’a întins cu repreziciune la turla sondei ce se afla in apropiere. Schela sondei fiind din scânduri îmbibate cu ţiţei a luat foc. La alarma dată au sosit echipele de incendiu ale soc. Astra Română din schela Bucşani şi din schela Ochiuri, care insă nu au putut stinge focul, astfel că întreaga sondă, a căzut pradă flăcărilor. Odată cu sonda au ars şi instalaţiile. Pagubele suferite de societate se ridică, la o jumătate de milion de lei,‘‘

Well engulfed in fire. Damages amount to half a million lei.
MORENI, 19th. - A major fire broke out today at 5:15 a.m. at the Bucşani oilfield, at Well No. 16 of Astra-Română company. The well was completely destroyed by the fire. Here's how the events unfolded:
At around 5:15 a.m., welder Bade Ion was using a welding apparatus to thaw a water pipe in the immediate vicinity of Well No. 16 of Astra-Română company. As the ground beneath the pipe was soaked in paraffin, despite the snow covering it, the paraffin caught fire from the welding apparatus.
The welder's attempts to extinguish the fire were unsuccessful, as the strong wind quickly spread the fire to the nearby well tower. The scaffold of the well, made of oil-soaked planks, caught fire. Upon receiving the alarm, firefighting teams from Astra-Română company at the Bucşani and Ochiuri oilfiled arrived, but they couldn't extinguish the fire, resulting in the entire well falling victim to the flames. Along with the well, the installations also burned. The damages suffered by the company amount to half a million lei."
