At 5.30 in the morning of 27th July 1912 a big fire broke out on ''Valea Pacurei'' ( Oil Valley ) Bana, Moreni, from an electric spark at oil well No. 6 AR Bana Nord ( in intervention ) of Astra Romana Company. Because the athmosphere was saturated with gases from eruptive well No. 9 UN RCOL Auxiliara Bana Nord of Van Sieckle Company, in a few seconds the whole area was engulfed in flames. The explosion caused a strong shock wave and the fire spread over a distance of 500 meters. Many were injured and 5 workers died.First was ignited oil well No. 7 AR TR Ionita Nord in free eruption at that time on 12'' casing with a production of 80 wagons of oil per day ( 800 tons of oil per day ) and than oil well No. 9 Van Sieckle caught fire. The production of oil well No. 9 Van Sieckle at the time was 100 wagon per day ( 1000 tons of oil per day ) in free eruption on 9'' casing. After 3 days oil well No. 9 Van Sieckle was still burning and because of continuous eruptions she ignited well no. 3 Van Sieckle ( in drilling ) and some nearby large oil pits.
