On the 25th of November 1931 a fire ignited oil well 83 AR Urlati in gas eruption at that time. A spark who came from the electical engines was the source af the blast. The derrick and the electrical installations were destroyed and 6 oilmen were injured. The fire column reached 25 meteres and the gas pressure was estimated to be around 80 bars. Several works were carried out, which included cleaning the well from debris and preparing many bags of wet sand to smother the fire at the appropriate time. A large quantity of dynamite was ordered to be used as needed. After 48 hours of preparations under supervison of engineers Catochvil and Cost they were ready to stop the eruption. Mr. Miron the chef engineer led a special team who cut the tubing string in order to fall into the well and stop the eruption. The operation was a succes.
