1911 The first Bana fire - Well no. 7 in flames

 At 5 p.m. on 28th of June 1911 oil well No. 7 AR TR Ionita Bana Nord, belonging to the ''Astra Romana'' society, erupted. After just one hour the well caught fire and the outbreak extended to the neighboring. It is believed that the well gases spread to the valley and were ignited by sparks from a blacksmith workshop 250 meters away. There were 7 victims, 4 of whom died, including engineer Traian Pepa. After more the two weeks, the eruption and fire couldn't be stopped and all the works at oil wells near by were put on hold.
