1909 Stavropoleos fire - Oilfield in flames

More then 300 oil wells were in production or in drilling at that time in that part of Moreni-Stavropoleos. The fire started from oil well 6 S AR Moreni Sud ( in eruption ). Very soon fire ablaze oil well 4 S AR Moreni Sud. In the following day, because the fire wasn't estinguish and all the installations and wells from surroundings were kept in function, the fire spread to them. In the great oilfield fire from 27th of August 1909 the company ’’Romano-Americana’’, run at that time by Mr. G. Iosif, had eight oil wells destroyed : 

1. 6 SP RA Moreni Sud

2. 8 SP RA Moreni Sud

3. 10 P RA Moreni Sud

4. 14 A SP RA Moreni Sud

5. 44 SP RA Moreni Sud

6. 48 SP RA Moreni Sud. 

Wells in drilling at that time 

7. 45 SP RA Moreni Sud and 

8. 32 A SP RA Moreni Sud were also destroyed and there were finally spud in 1910 & 1912. Another wells in drilling at that time 

9. 17 A AR Moreni Sud from Astra Romana and 

10. 7 S AR Moreni Sud from Regatul Roman were also destroyed. 

The fire started from oil well no.

11. 6 S AR Moreni Sud - ’’Regatul Roman’’ in eruption at that time. 

''Regatul Roman'' also lost in flames these wells : 

12. 1 S AR Moreni Sud

13. 2 S AR Moreni Sud

14. 3 S AR Moreni Sud

15. 4 S AR Moreni Sud

16. 5 S AR Moreni Sud. 

The staff houses of '’Romano-Americana’’ were caught by the fire.
