The fire in Cimpina

The well No. 13 of "Steaua" destroyed by a fire

CAMPINA, August 5. - Today at 5:30 a.m., well No. 13 from Gahita of "Steaua Romana" lit up.

The fire broke out with enormous fury, the oil well being in eruption. The enormous flames were accompanied by thick black smoke.

When the fire alarm went off, the fire team of Steaua immediately arrived on the scene, as did chief engineer Barbacioru who took measures to locate the fire.

Fortunately, a torrential rain that started to fall at around 6 o'clock, managed to extinguish the fire, which had caused enormous panic among the residents, because the burning well was in the immediate vicinity of the city.

The fire completely destroyed the derrick and the facilities.

The damages exceed 60,000 lei.

From the investigation opened by the policeman G. Petrescu, it appears that the fire would have originated from the ignition of the gases resulting from the eruption of the well.

The oilmen Take Georgescu and Ion Olteanu, who suffered burns and wounds on the face, were treated at the infirmary and left at home.

The well was insured at "Dacia"
