''Au chat noir'' tunnel
Under the guidance of Petrol-Block specialists, the works for digging an extinguishing tunnel began and on 17th of May 1928, diggers from ''Filipestii de Padure'' mine had already dug 10 meters. A week later the tunnel reached a length of 32 meters. A number of 14th pipes were installed at well 268 AR Moreni Sud to capture the eruptive oil. After this, the well No. 268 AR Moreni Sud was slowly burning on the surface so that the main fire remained at the well No. 268 AR Moreni SudOn June 2, the tunnel reached a length of 92 meters, but due to the haste with which it was dug, it began to collapse. On a section of seven meters it had to be concreted. An attempt to extinguish the flame was done at the surface by the Andreescu brothers but without success. At 21st of June 1928 the tunnel reached 130 meters in length just 15 meters away from the well No. 298 AR Moreni Sud casings. Finnaly on 26th of June 1928 after 6 weeks, the fire was estinguished at both wells.
The tunnel was dug from Pascov Valley.
5 posts guarded by gendarmes were organized around the fire.
